17 Year old tragically passes away on the pitch in the middle of a game- RIP Kaylen

A teenage football footballer related to a former Liverpool star, has tragically passed away on the pitch after collapsing during a match.

Kaylen Dennis, 17, was playing for Walthamstow Football Club on Wednesday when he suddenly died in the middle of the game. The talented young player, who was cousins with Sheffield United’s Rhian Brewster, had been described as an “incredible talent” by his coaches.

In a statement, the semi-professional club confirmed his death, saying, “We are devastated to learn of the passing of one of our U23 players, Kaylen Dennis, during a game. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who knew him.”

The cause of his death is still unknown.

Brewster paid a heartfelt tribute to his cousin during a game against Millwall, pointing to the sky after scoring the opening goal. He later told BBC Radio Sheffield, “I want to dedicate that goal to my younger cousin. He passed away earlier today before the game, so that’s one for him and the family. It’s a very tough time for the family, but I played for him today, and I’m very happy to score for him.”

Coach Scott Chickelday expressed his grief, saying, “It’s heartbreaking to hear that a 17-year-old boy I had the pleasure of knowing, with unbelievable talent, passed away on the football pitch. Kaylen Dennis was not just a gifted footballer, but also a great person. God bless him—fly high, champ.”

Kaylen’s youth team, Ryan FC, shared their sorrow, stating, “We are so upset and devastated at Ryan FC. Kaylen started with us at 13, and we watched him grow into senior football with our partner club, Walthamstow FC. His parents were incredibly supportive, and our thoughts are with them and their family.”

Walthamstow Reserves DC added, “Words cannot express how we feel about this news today. A kid with the brightest future, beyond being a talented young footballer, he was a blessed young man. Our football family will be there for his family during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Kaylen Dennis.
