BN DON’s Micky Salsbury set a record in Sussex Sunday Football League 3 years back of being their oldest ever goal scorer, at 70 years old.
He played for the reserve team last weekend with the league title wrapped up, after running the line for both firsts and reserves all season. He then earned himself a call up to the first team yesterday in their last league fixture of the season, where he came on last 20 minutes and after coming close twice straight away, he found himself free at the back post and tucked away! Breaking his own record in SSFL, at 73 years old!!!!
We’re yet to find out if there is an older goal scorer in any top flight division in Sunday league football. BN Dons, back to back Sussex county cup champions, back to back league cup champions, among plenty of other accolades won in our 5 seasons as a club now, Micky running the line for us for a majority. Micky Salsbury, Sussex Sunday league, Bn Dons first and reserves appearance and goal scorer for the first team in the premier division.
