#RIP Josh, club funding a memorial for player who passed away following an asthma attack

Swarthmoor Junior Football Club is raising money in memory of Joshua West – a talented goalkeeper with the under 12’s and passionate Liverpool supporter who suddenly passed away in April following an asthma attack.

Joshua and his family have been part of the football club for seven years with Joshua’s dad Lee, the team coach since they first started playing together. Joshua’s brother Billy plays for the under 8’s and his mum Nicola, and grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins are all regular supporters at matches. YNWA.

Joshua loved his football and spent many hours on the pitch and at home practising his goalkeeping skills. His abilities stretched much further than his height and he was able to save goals many adults would have missed.

Joshua’s cheeky, warm and loveable character made him a popular member of the club and wider football community and the sound of him encouraging his team to ‘mark up’ will echo around the pitch for years to come.

Any funds raised will be split between purchasing a memorial bench to be placed at the club grounds and to support his family.

If you would like to donate to help to fund the memorial please donate here https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/Joshua-west

Grassroots would like to pass on our deepest condolences to Joshua’s family and wish the club the very best on their fundraising endeavours.
