Allegation of a Man slashed with knife in front of terrified children after row at junior football match

It is being reported in the Liverpool Echo that an adult male was slashed with a knife in front of terrified children following a row at a junior football match.

Merseyside Police confirmed the following;

Officers were called to Halewood Leisure Centre on Baileys Lane, Halewood, to reports a man in his 40s had been stabbed following an altercation. Officers who arrived at the scene at around 6.50pm yesterday, Thursday, February 29th found the victim with a laceration to his arm.

A 41-year-old man from the Halewood area was arrested at the scene on suspicion of Section 18 wounding. He remains in police custody for questioning by detectives. The victim required hospital treatment for his injury.
