Is the gap to big now that Grassroots needs to govern itself??

We ask the question,is the premier league so far removed from grassroots football with an agenda steeped in money and greed.

At times it appears like 2 separate sports. Never in history has this level of investment been ploughed into football, with record breaking deals being signed with sponsors and TV rights but the money remains at the top of the sport with little less than a trickle coming down to Grassroots Football.

Do the premier league teams no that some teams and leagues haven’t played any games since last September??

Not a single club has stepped forward to say there massive state of the art training complexes that lay dormant every weekend could be used for grassroots teams.

No one seems to have the best interests of grassroots football at heart, pro clubs don’t, it’s all one one way traffic as and when the club want to take players from grassroots, decide on the rules, then spit the player out when there finished.

The premier league have no appetite for Grassroots as proven time and again when promised funds fail to materialise.

If not the above then who has the best interest of Grassroots football at heart?

The reason is football has changed from a farming industry to a fast food industry, clubs for over 100 years would be connected with the community and work with the community sowing seeds in there local areas growing the players of the future and youth teams where a genuine ladder to the first teams was visible. The clubs were the heart and soul of the communities they represented.

Now the clubs are disconnected from the communities where they stand owned by people with no connection to the area and only interested in instant success or Fast Food. Players are bought from anywhere for instant success with no thought for long term planning, academy’s are filled with players capable who simply don’t get the opportunities due to the Fast Food culture of there owners.

This agenda shift from clubs has had a major impact on our Grassroots and the next generation of players.

With that gap continuing to get bigger and no change of ethos from the professional game it begs the question, has the time come for Grassroots to govern itself???
